Participation in IAT contributes towards maintenance of accreditation
with NESA. Sessions align with the Australian Professional Standards
for Teachers, particularly:
• Standard 1 (Know students and how they learn)
• Standard 4 (Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments)
• Standard 6 (Engage in professional learning)
• Standard 7 (Engage professionally with collegues)
Through engagement with guest speakers, professional dialogue, reflection, and
collegial networking, participants undertake relevant professional development that
supports ongoing growth in practice and professional capacity.

I AM A TEACHER is not simply a series of events, but the beginning of a growing community. The long-term vision is to cultivate a strong, connected network of educators who are supported, formed, and equipped to lead with confidence and integrity. As the initiative grows, there is potential for expanded offerings including retreats, leadership formation opportunities, and ongoing coaching and mentoring pathways.
Certification:
Participation in I AM A TEACHER is not only an investment in personal and professional growth, but also a recognised commitment to ongoing formation. Teachers who attend at least 80% of sessions over a two-year period will receive recognition and certification, acknowledging their dedication to growth, reflection, and excellence in teaching. This certification reflects not just attendance, but a sustained commitment to becoming a more intentional, connected, and impactful teacher.
